I learned to ride a bicycle when I was six, and have never stopped.
At twelve, I took my first job for the sole purpose of earning enough money to buy a ten-speed bike. My bicycles have gotten lighter and more expensive since then, but—somewhere in the depths of my parent’s garage—my blue Schwinn Stingray with its banana seat still lurks.
My first bicycle tour was in Germany, where I was a foreign exchange student. A friend and I rode from Hamburg to Lübeck and back again. That was all it took. Since then, I’ve toured by bicycle every chance I’ve gotten.
I am always happiest when riding a bicycle.
I started this blog in 2013 for an end-to-end ride across Britain, and in anticipation of future adventures, kept it going. Like an intermittent stream, the blog floods when I’m traveling, and dries up–with occasional trickles–when I’m home.
I hope you enjoy it!
